The Iconic Warrior: Combat in China, 1900 - 1901
The Iconic Warrior is a series of fast-moving and informative historical fiction novels describing the combat experiences and exploits of protagonist Jean-Paul DeBert (pronounced *duh-bear*).
From his youth, Jean-Paul—also known as J.P.—dreamt about becoming a great battlefield warrior. In 1898, Jean-Paul was eighteen years old, six-foot-one inch tall, handsome, fluent in four languages, an avid runner, educated in a New York Jesuit school, skilled at the French martial art of savate stick fighting, and one-quarter American Indian.
His passage from raw civilian recruit to battle-hardened veteran began with his 1898 acceptance into the U.S. Army’s First Volunteer Cavalry—also known as Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders.
This volume describes his combat experiences in that conflict and also in the last major battle between the U.S. Army and American Indians at Leech Lake, Minnesota, in October 1898.
